Born in Veisiejai, Lazdijai district, as Rokas Alvydas Liaukonis.

Graduated from Šilutė secondary school.

Graduated in archaeology from Vilnius University.

Defended first dissertation in Moscow.

1984

Doctoral Degree

Defended second dissertation, became Doctor of Economic Sciences.

Professor

Became professor at Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute.

1989

Name Change

After his father's death, changed his surname to Flick – in honor of his mother Berta Flick, a descendant of Salzburg emigrants.

1990

Vice Minister

Appointed Vice Minister of Energy (1990–1991).

2005

"The Time of Rallies"

First book published – a publicistic diary about the Sąjūdis era.

"The Northern Sahara"

A novel about the Curonian Spit – one of the most acclaimed parts of the trilogy.
